Welcome to the Cambridge Latin Anthology (CLA)
Aims of the CLA
The CLA provides a wide range of poetry and prose from the Roman world for all those who are keen to develop an understanding of the authors in the original.
Eight thematic sections of verse include works by Catullus, Virgil, Ovid, Martial, Horace, Petronius, Seneca and Lucretius.
Eight sections of adapted prose include selection from Cicero, Pliny, Caesar, Tacitus, Sallust, Apuleius and the Acts of the Apostles in the Vulgate.
Electronic materials
Most Anthology texts now have online 'explorer' activities and audio files (recorded in collaboration with ARLT) to support their study. Use the menus to choose either verse selections or prose selections.
Please note: the Cultural Background weblinks have been removed.
Print materials
The CLA is accompanied by a Handbook for teachers, which may also be appropriate for those who wish to know a little more about the texts. Both the Anthology and the Teacher's Handbook are available from Cambridge University Press at:
